The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in its relentless pursuit of ISIS terror modules operating within India. On Thursday, they apprehended a 19-year-old student, Faizan Ansari, who was also studying at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Uttar Pradesh.

The arrest followed extensive searches conducted at Faizan's residence and rented accommodation in two different states - Jharkhand's Lohardaga district and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. These searches, carried out on July 16 and 17, yielded crucial evidence in the form of electronic devices and incriminating documents. Acting promptly, the NIA took Faizan into custody after the raids.

The NIA revealed that Faizan was part of a criminal conspiracy, working alongside associates and unidentified individuals, to support ISIS activities within India. His role was pivotal in disseminating ISIS propaganda across various social media platforms, with the aim of orchestrating violent terror attacks within the country on behalf of the notorious terrorist organization.

Of grave concern, the agency disclosed that Faizan was actively involved in radicalizing individuals who had recently converted to the ideology, luring them into the terrorist fold to strengthen ISIS's cadre base within India. He also maintained communication with ISIS handlers based overseas, who played a central role in guiding him through the recruitment process.

Prompt action by the NIA led to the registration of a case on July 19, invoking pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against Faizan. However, the investigation is far from over as the agency strives to unravel the intricate elements of this international conspiracy.

This latest arrest underscores the constant vigilance and dedication exhibited by the NIA in dismantling terror networks that pose a threat to the nation's security.
